Birnensorte Alexander Lucas von Elbe-Obst aus dem Alten Land

Alexander Lucas

Did you know that the pear was named Alexandre Lucas after its same-named discoverer?

Sweet

Sour

He found the variety around 1870 in a nursery near Orléans. It quickly became popular and has been cultivated throughout Europe from 1874. Today its pear trees are mainly grown in Germany. The large fruit is conical and belly-shaped. It has a yellow-green, sporadically reddish hue and a smooth, barely rusted skin. The white flesh can be reddish locally. Alexander Lucas is very juicy and sweet to slightly acidic in taste.

Production processes

Everything is organized at Elbe-Obst, starting from planning fruit plantations up to certifying, so that the retailers and finally the consumers receive the best quality apples, pears, cherries, raspberries and strawberries.

Certified Quality

In addition to internal controls of Elbe-Obst, the quality of apples, pears and pome fruit as well as soft fruit are also monitored by external inspection systems such as QS, Kosher certificate, ecological certificates or the regional window.
